Think Twice
Before Signing Up for Any Search Engine Submission Services
Search engine
submission services try to convince people that they need
their services. The premise they present is that you need
to resubmit your sites to all of the major search engines
every few months to keep them from being dropped.
Most search engines
submission services are not a good use of your limited marketing
dollars. The real webmaster pros not only do not use submission
services but they never even submit their sites at all to
the search engines. Sites do not get dropped because they
do not get resubmitted frequently. Sites get dropped for
things like technical glitches, not having enough links,
not having been updated in a long time, duplicate content,
cloaking or somehow otherwise violating the guidelines of
the search engines.
The way the
search engines find new sites is by crawling the web. The
best way to get your site indexed quickly is to have at
least a few links from frequently crawled authority sites.
You want to make as many avenues as possible for the spiders
to find your sites without going overboard. As of
this writing, with MSN and Yahoo getting too many links
very quickly doesn't seem to be a problem, but Google is
looking for natural link structures. So getting too many
links too fast may trip a penalty filter with Google.
So save your
money on the search engine submission services and instead
use it to pay for listings in a few of the better directories
or pay someone to hunt down links for your site from authority
sites in your field.
