Guide to Developing an Internet Business

Especially for Work at Home Moms

Advantages of Being a Work at Home Mom

1. The obvious answer is that you can spend more time with your children. I like being able to pick my children up from school and being able to be home with them after school.

2. With many Internet businesses you can work your own hours. This is great if you have children with lots of different activities as you can arrange your schedule around dentist appointments, doctors appointments, soccer games, scout meetings, play dates, etc.

3. You can't get downsized if you own the company! Sure, things can go wrong with Internet businesses - your web sites can lose their rankings in the search engines, your advertisers can cancel their accounts, reader lose interest in your content, etc. But these are all things you can correct. If your Internet business takes a downturn, you can just start on another one. But with a regular job if you get laid off, you have to spend time looking for a new job, and then just wait until someone hires you. With your own web business you can always start a new web site at any time, day or night.

4. With an Internet business, you really can make money while you sleep. Your web sites are up 24 X 7 making money for you, even when you are sleeping, at the park or your neighbor's barbecue.

5. You don't have to worry about missing work if your or your children are sick.

6. You don't have to take off work or arrange for child care every school vacation or holiday.

7. You don't have to spend any time commuting. If you work in an urban area and have an hour commute each way, you can save 2 hours a day in commute time. If you were working at a regular job 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year, that means you know have an extra 500 hours freed up.

8. You can spend less money on clothes, lunches and transportation costs.

9. You get to be the boss and make all of the decisions.

10. There can be very little startup costs for many Internet businesses. If you research and write content for a web site and then make money by putting ads on your site, your start up costs, except for your time, can truly be close to zero, while your earnings can be unlimited.

11. If you have multiple web sites, with each one having multiple sources of income such as paid directory listings, ads, newsletter income, etc. your income can be quite diversified and may be more secure than having a single employer.

12. The earnings potential is unlimited. There are no salary caps on your income with having your own Internet business.

13. Besides making a day to day income, you are developing a business you can sell. Usually you should be able to get a least one years income for a money making web site, and maybe even much more.

14. You can take vacations when ever you want without having to ask approval from anyone else or coordinate with fellow employees.

15. You are never "on call" unless you want to be.
