Reasons to use
Google's Adsense Program
1. It is easy!
With affiliate programs you have to take the time to
pick products and maintain links. With Google's Adsense
program the ads are matched to your site by software. Your
time can be spent working on your site instead of deciding
what products to pick or updating out of stock product links.
2. It's one of
the better paying programs. As of this writing, Google
doesn't share it's revenue split with publishers. However,
most people report pay outs are much higher than with other
contextual based ads programs.
3. Having
lots of Adsense ads on your site won't hurt your ranking
in Google's search engine. However, many people, myself
included, have found that sites with too many affiliate
links usually have a hard time getting decent rankings in
Google these days.
4. The ads
look less intrusive and are more low key than big blazing,
animated banner ads.
5. You get
paid per click, not per sale. With some affiliate programs,
you can send thousands of visitors to the merchants site
and never see a dime of income if the merchant reports no
sales. Sometimes this may be because the merchant has poorly
converting pages, and in some cases they have been reports
of unscrupulous merchants who go get sales but still don't
pay commissions. With Adsense these are not problems because
Google's software, not the end merchants, record each click.
6. You always
get paid each month. There are horror stories on the
net of affiliates who were owed thousands of dollars in
commissions only to find the merchants disappear or go bankrupt.
With Adsense the checks come direct from Google, a very
financially stable company, so publishers can always count
on being paid regularly.
7. Your income
is not vulnerable to spyware. With affiliate programs,
sales are usually tracked using cookies, which is a very
technically unsecure and unreliable method. There are many
forms of spyware that infect people's computers and then
override affiliate cookies in order to steal commissions.
8. You are
not charged back for returns. Most affiliate programs
will ask affiliates to pay back any commissions for returned
items. Sometimes these can really add up. With Adsense,
there is no such thing as a returned click.
