Guide to Developing an Internet Business

Especially for Work at Home Moms

Being a Work at Home Mom - For Fun and Profit

With the advent of the Internet, the opportunities for people to work at home have increased dramatically in recent years. Developing an Internet business is especially good if you are a "stay at home mom" who would like to be a "work at home mom".

For me starting a family was a huge consideration because it meant going from a two person, two professional income household to a one professional income, four person household. I'd gone to school a long time and worked my way up the corporate ladder, so taking time off to have kids for me was a huge decision.

I knew there was no way I'd be able to keep my job with the long commute and overtime hours and still have time for a family, so for me working or raising my children was an "either or" decision at first. I chose being home with my children, but the strain on our finances of me not working was always tough.

If you are a busy mom like me, keep yourself organized with a mom calendar or a family organizer for 2008. For more tips on being organized see my section on time management tips for working moms.

So eventually, after exploring several new career options and a few false starts, I ended up making web sites for a living. It has been great because I can set my own hours. If my kids are sick, I don't have to worry about child care or missing an important meeting or deadline. Also I only create sites about topics I enjoy researching and writing about, so for me an Internet business has been the perfect career choice. This site is my guide based on my experiences for other moms who would like have their own Internet business while working at home. I hope you enjoy it.
